Annual Cape Cod Maritime Festival

Location: Aselton Park at the corner of Ocean and South streets in Hyannis
The Cape Cod Maritime Museum presents the seventh annual Maritime Festival, a fun family outdoor festival celebrating Cape Cod’s rich maritime history and heritage. Featuring arts & crafts, demonstrations by local historical/nautical organizations, local seafood, kids activities, musical performances and more.

Annual Race Point Lighthouse “Green Tour”

Location: Tour starts from Race Point Beach parking lot, Provincetown
Tour of historic lighthouse, keepers’ house, newly renovated Whistle House, and solar & wind power systems at the lighthouse.

The Harbor Your Arts artist shanties are a unique harborfront location for artists to create and sell their work. All work is juried, and includes painting, photography, glass blowing, jewelry and more!

Kayak the Waterways of the Lower Cape
Time: 1 to 4 p.m.      
Location: Maritime Festival, Hyannis Paddle
Investigate different coastal habitats during these exceptional kayak tours that include kayak instruction and environmental education. Certified kayak instructor and coastal educator, Dick Hilmer will lead you through sheltered creeks, into bays and marshes, and towards islands rich in cultural history. During the three-hour coastal exploration, the certified guides of Explore Cape Cod Tours will provide professional instruction in easy to paddle, comfortable and stable tandem kayaks. Perfect for novice or experienced paddlers.  All equipment is provided. Saturday and Sunday price is $28 for adults and $20 for children 16 years of age or under. Tuesday and Friday paddles cost: $25/$18. Solo kayaks upon request.

Keeping Ships Safe

Location:  Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center, US Coast Guard Station and
Sandwich Marina, Ed Moffitt Drive in Sandwich
The US Army Corps of Engineers works to ensure safe movement of vessels thought the Cape Cod Canal. Join a Park Ranger to discover how the waterway is made safe for navigation. View real-time radar, camera and computers images of the Canal.

Open House: Old Harbor Life-Saving Station
Time: 1:30 to 4 p.m.
Location: Old Harbor Life-Saving Station, Race Point Beach, Provincetown (park at Race Point Beach)
Browse this 1898 Life Saving Station, where teams of skilled rescuers battled the elements to save shipwreck victims from the “Graveyard of the Atlantic.” Exhibits, recue equipment and stories bring this station to life.

Open House at Three Sisters Lighthouses

Location: Park at Nauset Light Beach in Eastham, follow signs to the lighthouses
These 19th century lighthouses once provided a beacon for sailors off the shore of Nauset Light Beach. Come and learn their history and importance.

“The Outermost House” with Author Robert Finch
Time: 3 p.m.      
Location: Truro Public Library, Truro
Nature writer and editor Robert Finch has authored several books on Cape Cod, as well as the intro to the most recent edition of Henry Beston’s “The Outermost House.” Finch will share his insights on Beston’s most famous work and lead an audience discussion on the book.
