Business Excellence Awards

Recipients of the Cape Cod Chamber's 2009 Business Excellence Awards were recognized at the June 3rd Annual Meeting at the Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in Brewster.

First launched in the mid 1990s, the Business Excellence Awards are bestowed upon Cape Cod Chamber members and their employees or associates for demonstrating excellence in public service, professional contributions, community commitment, customer service, workplace innovation, leadership, job creation, perseverance, or any other special achievements that can be documented. In addition to the Chairman’s award, this year’s awards were presented in five distinct categories, with the recipients as follows: 

• Chairman’s Award: Paul Rumul, C.O.O., The Davenport Companies

• Non-Profit Award: Hostelling International Eastern New England Council - Deborah Ruhe, Executive Director

• Healthcare Award: Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston - Sharon Brown

• Retail/Wholesale Award: Mashpee Commons - Doug Storrs and James Renz

• Services Award: NeuOffice/Venture Hyannis - Peter Karlson

• Hospitality & Recreation Award: Orleans Waterfront Inn - Josue Santiago, Erin Santiago, Ryan Maas, Megan Kaser

The 2008 recipients were as follows:

-Hospitality and Recreation: The Ocean Edge Resort & Club on Route 6A in Brewster, along with general manager Robert Newman 

-Services: Joyce Landscaping, Inc. of Marstons Mills, along with owner Christopher Joyce 

-Healthcare: Steve Abbott, retiring President and Chief Executive Office of Cape Cod Healthcare 

-Non-Profit: The Cape Cod St. Patrick's Parade Committee 

-Chairman's Award: Paul N. McBride, Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Red Jacket Resorts
