Private schools

Parents and students may seek private schooling for various reasons. Common ones are mixed-age classrooms, low student-to-teacher ratios, small total school population, alternative teaching methods, or a religious-based curriculum. Private schools exist on Cape Cod that satisfy some set of these criteria. Cape Cod Academy (grades K-12) in Osterville and Falmouth Academy (grades 7-12) are the largest private schools on the Cape, and both have just celebrated 25-year anniversaries. Others are the Laurel School in Brewster and the new Sandwich Independent Day School. There are several Montessori schools on the Cape, and one Waldorf School, located in Bourne.
