Each of the public school districts has one or more elementary schools, which are attended by children in preschool (or kindergarten) through fourth grade. Busy families can benefit from the before-school breakfasts and after-school activity programs at the elementary schools.
In the middle schools and high schools, the graduates of a district’s various elementary schools come together. In general, the middle schools accommodate fifth through eighth grade populations. After-school activity programs are operated by some of the middle schools, with such varied offerings as chess, rocketry, chorus, instrumental music and sports.
The district high schools serve ninth through twelfth graders who desire a college preparatory curriculum.
