Cape Cod Chamber's Program of Work: Charting the Course for FY-11
Our vision is a healthy and viable business community offering economic opportunity to our citizens.
Through our annual program of work, we map the goals and actions to achieve these goals.These are the primary areas of our work for the coming year.
MISSION Through strategic partnerships, we will work to retain business and through advocacy and tangible services, create new economic opportunity on Cape Cod. To achieve this, we will
• Market Cape Cod and islands as a premier visitor destination
• Advocate development of modern tourism amenities & adequate marketing resources
• Promote access to capital & incentives for businesses
• Provide technical assistance to local business
• Provide referral and network resources to local business
• Maintain strong public policy advocacy role
• Maintain a regional role and point of view
• Maintain organizational fiscal strength & transparency
DESTINATION MARKETING TACTICS • Implement tourism marketing plan in collaboration with Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard Islands
• Plan details voted by board including:
o 1038 Grant management
o Town of Barnstable marketing grant
o CC Travel Guide published
o Website rankings @ #1
o Trade shows & conventions
o Advertising & Public Relations
o Visitor Centers
• Involve members in quarterly meetings to discuss current trends, marketing efforts, new products and services in the destination and share ideas.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TACTICS • Advocate for and promote well-defined growth centers that provide economic opportunity
• Advocate for long range plans to improve canal bridge access
• Implement MCC grant to market Sourcebook (linking artisans to homebuilding & decorating) by December 31 ’10 (CO’C) – mandated by grant
• Continue participation in MA REDOs (WKN)
• Partner with others to produce: Health & Wellness Expo (date TBA) and Green Tourism initiative – ongoing (MP)
• Organize wage & hour seminars in Spring ‘11 (Lee)
• Implement an Entrepreneurs Connectivity Team as outlined in the Barnstable County CEDS priorities and seek resources for implementation.
• Collaborate with Coastal Community Capital on workshop series –winter 10/11.
• Collaborate with Cape Business Magazine on workshops & events.
• China mission Sep 17 to Oct 5, 2010 (WKN)
• Offer Benchmark Your Business to Disney training.
• Iceland Mission (spring 11)
• Regularly convene the Retail Council and assist in its mission
• Conduct EW3 with collaborators
• Conduct Business Book Club
