Cape Cod Chamber's Program of Work: Charting the Course for FY-10
Our vision is a healthy and viable business community offering economic opportunity to our citizens.
Through our annual program of work, we map the goals and actions to achieve these goals.These are the primary areas of our work for the coming year.
Mission
Through strategic partnerships, we will work to retain business and through advocacy and tangible services, create new economic opportunity on Cape Cod. To achieve this, we will
• Market Cape Cod and islands as a premier visitor destination
• Advocate development of modern tourism amenities & adequate marketing resources
• Promote access to capital & incentives for businesses
• Provide technical assistance to local business
• Provide referral and network resources to local business
• Advocate for and promote well-defined growth centers that provide economic opportunity
• Maintain organizational fiscal strength & transparency
• Maintain strong public policy advocacy role
• Maintain a regional role and point of view
Destination Marketing Tactics
• Implement tourism marketing plan in collaboration with Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard Islands. (details in plan voted by board)
• Involve members in quarterly meetings to discuss current trends, marketing efforts, new products and services in the destination and share ideas.
Economic Development Tactics
• Seek mitigation from Bridge construction impacts
• Implement MCC grant for Sourcebook (linking artisans to homebuilding & decorating) by December 31 ’09 (CO’C) – mandated by grant
• Increase participation in MA EDCs (WKN)
• Partner with others to produce:
• Health & Wellness Expo October 9 & 10 (MAM)
• Green Tourism initiative – ongoing (MP)
• Host MOITI investors FAM October 8 (Lee)
• Organize H2B seminar October 21 (Lee)
• Promote Underground Economy Session September 22 (CDI)
• Promote Forum for Young Adults 11/12/09
• Establish an economic development effort with CCEDC Inc. to coordinate a regional plan that compliments the Barnstable County CEDS priorities and seeks resources for implementation.
• This became the Entrepreneurs’ Connectivity Team – now convened & meeting 1x per month – 3rd Mon.
• Collaborate with Coastal Community Capital on workshop series –winter 09/10
• Update CC Focus website on efforts toward regionalization & resource sharing
• Participate in Climate Change Advisory Board report due 12/31/09(WKN)
• Participate in Ocean Partnership (Delaney)
