Bike, Hike & Paddle Race, Kite Flying and Cape Cod Clambake
Time: All day event
Location: There will be two base locations, the Boardwalk Creek downtown in
Sandwich and Oak Crest Cove off Quaker Meeting House Road in Sandwich.
There are two races, the first being a triathlon race for the competitor who will bike, hike and paddle to the end of the course. The “relay” race is a team effort for three people, (family or friends), one biker, one hiker and one paddler, who will relay from one leg of the race to the next to complete the course. There will also be kite flying at the Boardwalk with professionals to answer questions and give tips on kiting. The day will end with a Cape Cod Clambake featuring fruits of the sea at the Oak Crest Cove function hall.
Cost: There will be a fee for entering Bike, Hike & Paddle Race and a fee for Cape Cod Clambake. Tickets and entry forms will be available for individuals and families for both events April 1. Please call or check website for prices.

Early Communications on Cape Cod

Location: Salt Pond Visitor Center at Cape Cod National Seashore, Eastham
Dick Kraycir of the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center will present an illustrated
lecture on the history of communications on Cape Cod, including the significant role
that Marconi and RCA had with Chatham radio and ship-to-shore communications
around the world. The program will include a showing of the award-winning
documentary “Chatham Radio: WCC The Untold Story,” narrated by Walter Cronkite.

First Annual Cape Cod Canal Water & Boating Safety Day

Historic House Tour
Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Briggs-McDermott House, Sandwich Road, Bourne
Tour eight homes representative of the later 1700’s through early 1900’s: one of which was the locations where the noted yacht designer, Nathaniel Herreshoff, received the contract for building the venerable Herreshoff 12 1/2 foot sloop, originally called the “Buzzards Bay Boys Boat.” Another is the Briggs McDermott House, home of the Bourne Society for Historic Preservation, which will be open for refreshments.

Kayak the Waterways of Cape Cod
