Cape Cod Chamber member receives Four Diamond Award - for the
THIRD time! |
 |
Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA Winter
2003-Crowne Pointe Historic Inn, Provincetown's most elegant
and indulgent lodging establishment, received two coveted honors
this winter with its selection as Select Registry's newest
member property and re-designation as a AAA Four Diamond
property.
Crowne Pointe was invited to join the very prestigious
country inn group Select Registry (www.selectregistry.com),
an association of innkeepers and properties 400 strong 'dedicated to
providing guests a unique hospitality experience.' Its program
involves independent inspectors-not employees of Select
Registry-with years of experience in hospitality. Inspectors
arrive unidentified, spend the night, and evaluate each property on
a very detailed and grueling point system.
Concurrent with this invitation to join Select Registry,
the Inn again earned the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award
for 2003, the third consecutive AAA Four Diamond designation
for the Inn; AAA guidelines for such a designation are stringent. In
reviewing Crowne Pointe, AAA evaluator Mike Holmes concluded
the property was "very elegant...services excellent...housekeeping
outstanding."
Crowne Pointe General Manager Tom Walter said, "The
Crowne Pointe Inn's mission is to create an unparalleled
lodging and hospitality experience for its clientele. Management's
and staff's unwavering commitment to guest comfort, incomparable
service and hospitality, cleanliness, the staff's meeting and
anticipating each guest's needs and exceeding their expectations
remains the centerpiece of the Crowne Pointe experience."
Crowne Pointe Historic Inn, a AAA 40-room luxury country
inn, is located in the heart of Provincetown at 82 Bradford Street.
The Inn is open 365 days per year and quiet season specials
are offered. Crowne Pointe has earned the prestigious AAA
Four Diamond Award for three consecutive years, has been awarded
Out & About's Editor's Choice Award, is a member of
Boutique Lodging International as well as its recent
membership in Select Registry (formerly Independent
Innkeepers Association).

Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound Petition |
 |
As you know, many Cape Cod businesses are
actively opposing the development of an industrial wind power plant
in Nantucket Sound. The Cape Wind project would place 170 wind
turbines -- each 426 ft. tall-- on a 28 square mile area between
Cape Cod and the Islands.
There are many reasons why businesses oppose this project:
TOURISM: The aesthetic, historic and environmental appeal of the
Cape and Islands is the economic lifeblood of this area. A
large-scale and highly visible industrial facility in this location
will discourage tourism.
LITTLE JOB CREATION: The project will create only 36 jobs after
its completed, and would threaten the employment base of our economy
by undermining tourism and recreation.
LITTLE BENEFIT TO THE CAPE: While wind is free, the investment
cost for offshore wind energy is high. The company's construction
costs will be factored into your electric bill, yielding little or
no savings to ratepayers.
Please help in the campaign to stop the wind power plant be
getting your family members, friends and colleagues to sign the
enclosed petition and return it to: Alliance to Protect Nantucket
Sound, 396 Main Street, Suite 2, Hyannis, MA 02601 before Feb. 10.
You can also make extra copies to place in your business and
encourage customers to sign. Please return all sheet(s) regardless
of how many signatures are on it by February 10.

The Cape's 'Packed Powder' |
 |
On your next trip to Boston, be sure to notice
the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce billboard located on I-93 North
just prior to the Columbia Road Exit. The message is "We have plenty
of packed powder. Its called sand" and features a beach landscape
with a lighthouse. We have received some very positive feedback on
this marketing effort.
