Cape Cod Chamber Career & Job Center |
 |
Are you looking for employees? Or maybe you are
looking for a job?
We are happy to announce the Cape Cod Chamber Career & Job
Center is up and running. This section of our website is designed to
assist both members who are looking for employees and those
individuals seeking employment.
All Cape Cod Chamber Members (with an email address on file at
the Chamber office) have the capability to post employment listings
that will be seen by a variety of people seeking employment.
Visitors are encouraged to post resumes online and search job
listings thorough this site simply by providing a current e-mail
address. (In fact, everyone who sends resumes to our attention for
summer jobs are asked to go through this system. That is over 100
people so far this year!)
The first time you log on (by clicking employer) you will need to
register (there is a link below the password box). Even if you don't
have any current job availabilities you can post an "Employer
Profile" about your company for potential future job seekers to see.
Look for more over the next few weeks on this new Cape Cod
Chamber service!

"Mini-society" Curriculum Highlighted by the Cape Cod
Times |
 |
The Mini-Society Program, created
by the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at the Ewing
Marion Kauffman Foundation, is a year-long project in which children
learn economics by designing and developing their own society.
Barnstable Horace Mann Charter School fifth grade teacher Diane
Mandeville, whose class was featured in the Cape Cod Times and
Barnstable Patriot articles, heard about the mini- society
curriculum from the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce. She attended a
four-day conference in West Virginia this summer sponsored by the
Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership of Kansas City, Mo.
Bob Rogers, chairman emeritus of the Ewing Marion Kauffman
Foundation, visited Mandeville's class on Wednesday (photo above).
Rogers, a fervent supporter of the Cape Cod Chamber's work to bring
entrepreneurial training and education programs to the region,
commented "You have to begin to develop entrepreneurs at the
earliest age, through these types of programs."
We hope to have more school districts involved in the
mini-society curriculum next year, using our local teacher as the
trainer. For more information, please contact Clare O'Connor at the
Cape Cod Chamber office ([email protected] or 508-862-0700
ext 521).

The Cape's 'Packed Powder' |
 |
On your next trip to Boston, be sure to notice
the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce billboard located on I-93 North
just prior to the Columbia Road Exit.
It sure got the attention of the anonymous caller to the
Barnstable Patriot! The message left at the paper explained that the
caller had never seen, in his 25 years on the Cape, any lighthouse
like the one pictured on the billboard.
Wendy Northcross, Cape Cod Chamber CEO, spoke with the Patriot
and explained that it was either Wood End or Long Point (both
square, white lighthouses) in Provincetown. The Barnstable Patiot
confirmed in today's edition that the lighthouse shown on the
billboard (and www.capecodchamber.org) is Wood End (Which was
designed as an exact replica of Long Point Light according to
www.rudyalicelighthouse.net, a great website with pictures &
information on lighthouses across the country).
Wendy also explained that the Chamber does not use stock
photography in our advertising campaigns - except for occasional
tightly cropped people pictures - pictures not intended to show off
the splendor of Cape Cod.

the lighthouse for yourself! »
